Wonky Legs
I recently purchased this cake stand having become rather "afternoon tea" obsessed and was a little disappointed. The legs were extremely uneven making it very wonky and the two tiers are not completely straight either. I looked into sending it back but decided to do a DIY repair by using some small pieces of the stuff you put on chair legs to stop them damaging floors. I was very happy with the result of my much straighter cake stand. The finish on this item is really strange and I'm still not sure if it's quaint or just ugly. The two plate inserts are very pretty though, glass with a nice pattern on. The other thing is it's very tall and I'm gonna have to find a home for it other than my kitchen cupboards because it doesn't fit. I think I should probably have made the effort to return it but hope to get some use out of it.
Fabulous Gift
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter and she absolutely loves it.She had requested a vintage effect metal cake stand to put on her dressing table to display her perfume bottles and this was perfect. It has a very distressed vintage look and the glass plates have a very gradual rim so there is plenty of flat surface to display the bottles. Other cake stands have plates that have a rim a couple of inches from the edge or slope inwards which wouldn't have suited the purpose quite the same as the perfume bottles wouldn't have sat straight.
The only thing was I got a shock at the size of box when it was delivered. I have bought cake stands before and they usually come apart into smaller components which you assemble yourself but apart from the plates lifting out this one doesn't so you need to beware if you are buying it to send on to someone else as it is quite a bulky, but beautiful, item to post on.
