I reviewed loads of sharpeners before I purchased this. My goal was to find something that would both stick to the surface and do a good job of sharpening. I needed something sturdy for an pensioner to use.
Well! it is sturdy (by god it is) but I found it could not sharpen anything like the AnySharp Global World's Best Knife Sharpener. This can sharpen like nothing else I have tried, but failed to remain as fixed to the work surface even on a glass hob as I would have expected.
I have passed the pocket knife over the sharpening wheels 30+ times and still the blade is not as sharp as the AnySharp Global World's Best Knife Sharpener can achieve.
It would be great if the two best features of both knives were combined. A wider lower profile base with the best sharpening action and this will never happen.

Pastic Knife Sharpener?
As I don't have any plastic knives I have used on older knives and it seems to give an edge but only after repeated use to get the angle suited to its grinding wheels. It is very similar to one my mother used to use fifty years ago,and my only gripe is that the plastic surround (needed for the suction pad which works very well on most worktops) gets in the way as the knife leaves the wheels with downward pressure on it resulting in the tip of the knife scratching the plastic (chrome) surface. Care must be taken for this reason.
