When I first bought this pan (recommended by Delia Smith) it did not disappoint. I seasoned it (if I remember correctly Delia advocated filling it one third to capacity with something without a strong flavour, like ground nut oil, and heating it on the lowest hob setting for about 3 hours!) As I was a novice cook I slavishly followed the rules and was very relieved to discover that the pan made wonderful omelettes. Then I moved out of the parental home and left the pan to its own devices, as it were.
My mother took to frying bacon in it. Not sure whether this was a good idea, because when I returned to visit a few years later and tried to make an omelette, the eggs just stuck to the pan and what was salvaged could only be termed as scrambled eggs.
So what do we make of that? Bacon is quite fatty, isn't it? Why didn't all those years of frying bacon season and preserve the pan? I thought a good pan was a well used/seasoned pan. Or maybe 5 years was too...
