I bought this to try making my own oat cakes because the recipes tell me I should turn the oatcakes so as they dry in a biscuity fashion rather than becoming pudding like and I know I don't really feel I can be bothered to do that...

Well, the truth is I did turn them, however the holes and ridges were part of what made this easily possible and had the desired effect of circulating the air more effectively for them to not become puddingy. It's not a light weight tray, but that's why it seemed the quality was good - the tray doesn't distort with heating.

I can also recommend cooking your own oatcakes - I did a simple recipe of part rolled oats, part oatmeal, UK rapeseed oil and water, but rolled at lot thinner than the recipe suggested. I was doing this to make sure my oatcakes were from sustainable ingredients as sadly most you buy in the shops use palmoil, the production of which is a major cause of rainforest destruction and throwing indigenous people's off...
