This is not what I bought. This 'steamer' needs to be placed in a steamer itself and I agree with the other reviewer it is rather large and it doesn't fit in my 24cm steamer I bought in the meantime. I can only used in a really wide pan with a rack inside and I have not done this so far as this would be a lot of hassle. Be aware this product measures 25 cm by 20 cm in width and is 15 cm high.

This is really well made,the trouble with it,is its so big,you need at least a 26cm saucepan & its got to be 14 1/2cm deep,as for steaming pans that big,I`m still looking.

This is is a pudding basin with a tight lid that you put in a pan to steam and you do need a pan to fit, it fits comfortably into both my soup pans so I had no problem there. It is easy to use, the lid fits tightly and is easy to clean. I used it to make a steak and Kidney pudding and it worked perfectly. The size is perfect to use to feed a family. I heartily recommend this, it is just a really simple but brilliant piece of kitchen equipment.
